On June 15, 2016, Public Advocates, the Public Interest Law Project, and Siegel & Yee sent a letter on behalf of more than 20 Oakland-based organizations urging the Oakland City Council to reject a proposed public lands policy that conflicts with the state Surplus Land Act and to work with the community to develop a policy that goes beyond the state law’s baseline requirements to maximize deeply affordable housing on city-owned land
