May 19, 2017 – The California Insurance Commissioner is launching an investigation into reports that auto insurers have been charging drivers from minority neighborhoods up to 30% higher premiums than drivers from neighborhoods with similar accident costs. The investigation was launched as a result of a letter sent by Public Advocates on behalf of 12 community groups.
